Is amethyst treated, and is it good for a ring?

Most natural amethyst is untreated; some is gently heated to even out colour, and we disclose it either way. At 7 on the Mohs scale it wears well in an everyday ring, and we'll point you to the deep 'Siberian' purples if that's the look you're after.
