What is heliodor, and is it treated?

Heliodor is the golden-yellow member of the beryl family — the same family as emerald, aquamarine and morganite. Some is gently heated to refine colour, disclosed on every stone. At 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale it's a clean, durable everyday ring gem.
