Sphene (Titanite)

First discovered as a new mineral by Marc August Pictet in 1787, titanite was named for its titanium content in 1795. Sphene comes from the Greek word sphenos (wedge) to describe its wedge-shaped crystals, and has come to be known as the gemstone name for titanite. Sphene gems can display beautiful fire-coloured refractions under light, however it is a rare find in jewellery since it is not as hard and durable as other gemstones.

You can use the FILTER section in the left sidebar below to search by factors such as gem type, cut, price, carat weight, origin, and more.
