Is tanzanite treated, and is it durable enough for a ring?

Virtually all tanzanite is gently heated to bring out its blue-violet — a standard, stable, disclosed treatment. It's a little softer than sapphire, so for an everyday ring we'll steer you to a protective setting, and it's stunning in a pendant or earrings worn more gently.
