Is topaz treated, and is it good for a ring?

Most blue topaz is treated — a colourless stone that's been irradiated and heated to a stable blue, a long-standard, disclosed process. Precious imperial topaz in peach and sherry tones is often natural. At 8 on the Mohs scale topaz is hard, though it has cleavage, so we'll set it to protect it.
