JA New York
JA New York
The principal United States wholesale jewellery trade-show series
JA New York is the trade-show series produced by Jewelers of America (JA) at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, comprising the spring (March), summer (July or August) and autumn (October) editions. The shows have run since the late 1960s and are, alongside Centurion in Arizona and Couture in Las Vegas, the principal United States retail-buying events for fine jewellery.
The exhibitor base spans roughly 700 to 900 booths in a typical edition, mixing US manufacturers and importers with international exhibitors from Italy (chain and findings, especially Vicenza), Hong Kong, Thailand, India and Israel. Buying activity concentrates on the lower-mid to mid-upper retail tiers, with the higher-end goods generally moving through Couture in Las Vegas in early June. JA New York operates as both a transactional show (buyers writing orders for the seasonal calendar) and a brand-discovery and relationship-renewal venue.
The summer edition was traditionally paired with the smaller Antique Jewelry & Watch Show in the Strand Manhattan, and the show has historically run alongside the New York Watch Auction season, drawing additional traffic from the auction trade. Recent editions have been organised by Emerald Expositions under licence from JA following the show's transfer to Emerald in 2014.
