Thailand's place in the sapphire trade is larger than its deposits. The country mined its own corundum for generations — the Chanthaburi and Kanchanaburi fields produced dark blues and greens — but its real significance is that Thailand became the world's cutting and heat-treatment centre, and much of the sapphire sold anywhere has passed through it.
What Thai material looks like
Native Thai sapphire tends to run darker and more strongly saturated than Ceylon material, often toward an inky blue with a greenish cast. Heat is used to open that colour up — to lift the tone and clear the silk — and Thai heating expertise is the reason the practice became standard across the trade rather than a curiosity.
Heated, and said plainly
Thai sapphire reaches the market heated as a matter of course. That is not a caveat buried in a listing; it is the ordinary condition of the material and the reason it is priced as it is. Each listing records its own treatment — review it for the individual stone. Heat is stable and permanent, it needs no special care, and a heated stone is a real sapphire — the same mineral, the same hardness, the same durability.
What would be dishonest is letting a buyer assume otherwise. Unheated corundum of comparable colour commands a substantial premium, and anyone comparing prices deserves to know which they are looking at.
Reading the lab report

What to look at
(1) colour, and specifically whether the tone is open enough to read as blue rather than black in indoor light; (2) any greenish secondary hue, which is common in this material; (3) clarity after heating; (4) cut, since a dark stone needs a cutter who understood it; (5) price, understood against unheated material of the same colour.
