Can I see loose moonstones before I choose one?

Yes — that's how we work. Book a viewing or just walk in, sit down with the actual stones, and we'll discuss origin and treatment on every moonstone.

Is moonstone durable enough for a ring?

Moonstone's floating blue glow (adularescence) is natural and untreated, but at 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale and with some cleavage it's more delicate, so it shines in a pendant or earrings, or a ring you wear with care. We'll show you protective settings and disclose any treatment.

Moonstone is a translucent feldspar that features the effect of adularescence: a gentle glow of iridescent light that seems to dance among the layers beneath the gemstone’s surface. Moonstone’s name comes from its milky blue glow, which resembles the moon. It is most often cut to have a convex surface to maximize the beauty of the polished stone.
