Collection: Onyx - By Price: Lowest to Highest
Onyx’s name originates from the Latin onyx and the Greek ὄνυξ, meaning “claw” or “fingernail”. It is a variety of agate featuring black and white bands, and is sometimes also called “true onyx” or “Arabic onyx”. Most commonly, onyx is the name used to describe a black chalcedony, which is the most popular solid black gemstone. It has been used in ornamental carvings and engravings for centuries, the cameo being the most well-known historical example.
