Collection: Sphene (Titanite) - By Price: Lowest to Highest
First discovered as a new mineral by Marc August Pictet in 1787, titanite was named for its titanium content in 1795. Sphene comes from the Greek word sphenos (wedge) to describe its wedge-shaped crystals, and has come to be known as the gemstone name for titanite. Sphene gems can display beautiful fire-coloured refractions under light, however it is a rare find in jewellery since it is not as hard and durable as other gemstones.
